BANGORJeffrey D. Smith has been named president and chief operating officer of UnitedKingfield Bank, a subsidiary of Camden National Corp.

Smith will also serve as a director of UnitedKingfield Bank. “We are extremely fortunate to have someone of Jeff’s caliber in our midst who is ready, willing and able to take on the exciting and important challenge of leading UnitedKingfield Bank,” Robert W. Daigle, president and chief executive officer of Camden National Corp.

Based at UnitedKingfield Bank’s Main Office on Exchange Street in Bangor, Smith will continue to oversee all day-to-day operations.

“I appreciate having this opportunity to lead the UKB team in developing and implementing new strategies, products and services that will help advance the economic vitality and social well being of our communities, and I especially look forward to becoming actively involved in the Bangor community,” he said.

Smith joined Camden National Corp. in 1997 as vice president of operations.

Prior to joining Camden National, he was vice president and manager of retail services for KeyBank of Maine with responsibility for 102 banking offices.

Smith is the son of Earl and Barbara Smith of Belgrade Lakes and a graduate of Waterville High School.

He holds a bachelor of arts degree in administrative science from Colby College.

He has attended the New England School of Banking at Williams College and is pursuing a master’ degree of business administration from Thomas College.

He has served as vice president for the Camden Area YMCA, was a member of the Camden Rotary Club, and helped organize Camden’s Millennium Celebration.

He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Maine Bankers Association and the Bangor Symphony Orchestra.

Smith will relocate with his family to the Bangor area.
