• Jan. 20, 3 p.m.: A Bailey Road resident reported receiving a phone solicitation on Jan. 18 from a company claiming to be collecting money for a law enforcement agency.

According to the police report, the man then received paperwork from the company on Jan. 20. The documents explained the process for sending in the requested funds. The man, who was not identified in the police log, asked officer Rusty Daley how he could determine the legitimacy of the solicitation.

Daley told the man to contact Maine’s attorney general to learn if the matter was a possible case of fraud or a swindle.

• Jan. 13, 8:30 p.m.: Chief Darren M. Tripp responded to a disorderly conduct complaint at the end of the Telstar-Dixfield boys basketball game at Telstar High School.

According to Tripp, he spoke with a Dixfield man after the game “due to his profane language and inappropriate behavior.”

Tripp told the man, whom he did not identify, to leave the premises, which the man did without incident “after some verbal displeasure.”

The Telstar Rebels team defeated the Dirigo Cougars by a score of 62-52 that night.
