NORWAY – Bob Brown, co-director of Pan-African Roots, will speak on “Joining the Fight Against Racism and Colonialism – Living the History of our Time” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, at Fare Share Commons, 443 Main St. Brown has been active in the Congress of Racial Equality, as Midwest director of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and in the Chicago chapter of the Black Panther Party. He also was an organizer for political campaigns of Jesse Jackson, former Mayor Harold Washington of Chicago and former Sen. Carol Moseley-Braun of Illinois. In 1995, he served as national coordinator for the National Black United Front Project on Human Rights and Genocide. In 1972 he led the All-African People’s Revolutionary Party. In 1995, Brown filed a class action lawsuit in Chicago on behalf of all descendants of enslaved Africans in Africa and elsewhere. For more information about the program, people can call 743-2183.

Spaghetti dinner
BUCKFIELD – The Streaked Mountaineers Snowmobile Club will hold its 30th annual Spaghetti Feed Ride-In to benefit the Pine Tree Camp for Crippled Children. It will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Buckfield High School on Turner Street, Route 140. The ride-in is a public event. People don’t need to be members of the club and don’t need to arrive by snowmobile. The club meets on the third Wednesday of each month at the clubhouse on Morrill Street by the SAD 39 school bus garage. Everyone is welcome to attend the meetings.
