LISBON – The Lisbon Greyhounds are building another streak – this time on the plus side of the ledger.
After finally ending a six-year, 114-game losing streak in its last outing, Lisbon played with renewed confidence Monday night and stunned preseason MVC favorite Wiscasset 41-35 for its second consecutive victory.
The Greyhounds (2-14) trailed 19-17 at halftime, but Dominique Mathieu buried a pair of 3-pointers in the pivotal third quarter as Lisbon took a 29-25 lead into the final frame. Wiscasset tied the game at 35-35 with roughly two minutes to play, but Lisbon closed out the scoring with six points from the foul line to seal the win.
Krystal Doughty led Lisbon with 13 points, while Dominique and Gabrielle Mathieu chipped in with 11 points each. Sarah Whitfield led the Redskins (9-4) with eight points.
Telstar 41, Mt. Abram 38
BETHEL – Jillian Kimball scored 14 points as Telstar nudged past Mt. Abram for a 41-38 victory in MVC girls’ hoops action Monday night.
Abby Wentworth added 13 points, while Chea Davis recorded 11 boards for the Rebels (10-4).
Mt. Abram was paced by Briana Wilkins with 18 points.
Dirigo 81, Carrabec 24
NORTH ANSON – Alex Kaubris poured in 19 points as Dirigo rolled to an 81-24 triumph over Carrabec.
Brooke Weston and Michelle Holmquist each added 17 points apiece for the undefeated Cougars (15-0).
Marcie Williams led the Cobras (1-14) with 14 points.
Hall-Dale 47,
Winthrop 40
FARMINGDALE – Caitlyn Laflin drained 18 points as Hall-Dale slipped past Winthrop to record a 47-40 win in MVC basketball action.
Chelsey Dionne and Heather St. Pierre combined for 19 points for the undefeated Bulldogs (14-0).
Emilie Knight scored 18 points for Winthrop. The Ramblers enjoyed a strong third quarter, outscoring Hall-Dale 14-4, but their effort proved fruitless as the Bulldogs pulled away.
