Talent in the production will be presented in a variety show atmosphere.

RUMFORD – The Rumford Historical Society has announced plans to stage a benefit show on Saturday and Sunday, March 20 and 21, in the auditorium of Rumford Town Hall.

“We plan to feature local talent in an Ed Sullivan-style variety show format,” said the show’s director, Bob Bohren. “Burt DeFrees, president of the Rumford Historical Society, approached me about this project, and we both felt that there is such a wealth of talent in the area that we could provide some great entertainment value with a show of this type.”

Joining Bohren and DeFrees in creating the show are Duane Glover, assistant director, and Craig Zurhorst, technical director. “These three gentlemen make a terrific team with a lot of energy and enthusiasm,” said DeFrees, who has numerous theatrical credits on his own. ‘They have a great rapport with one another and are exciting to be around.”

The team is in the process of contacting local musicians, dancers, actors, magicians and other performing groups to secure the acts needed to fill the bill.

The Arts Initiative program has also cooperated with the process by referring acts from its database.

Local entertainers interested in the show, should contact Bohren at 364-2536.
