LEWISTON – For weeks, members of the Police Athletic League called around and sold tickets to a charity hockey game. The fund-raiser went well. Now it’s over.

The problem is, somebody claiming to be from PAL is still making phone calls and asking for money. Police say it’s a scam.

As of last week, the effort to sell tickets to next month’s bout between former Boston Bruins and local police officers was over.

Investigators are asking that anyone who receives calls from people claming to be from PAL to contact police at 784-6421.

Victims of the scam who have caller identification are asked to take note of the number that the bogus call came from.
