BRIDGTON – The Mushers Bowl, originally set for this weekend has been postponed. The event, sponsored by the Greater Bridgton Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce, is rescheduled for Feb. 14-15.

A Winter Carnival is still planned this weekend, however.

The Down East Sled Dog Club, in a prepared statement, advised that sled dog races can’t be run this weekend due to inadequate snow cover.

The club cited safety considerations for both drivers and dogs due to the inability to brake or steer sleds on bare ice or hard-packed snow.

They’re hoping for more snow by Feb. 14.
