1919 – 2004
LIVERMORE – William “Bill” Botka, 84, a long-time resident of Botka Hill Road in Livermore, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 27, at his home.
Born in Livermore, Oct. 23, 1919, the son of Andro and Annie Balog Botka, he was a 1938 graduate of Livermore Falls High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In 1943, he married Ruth Driscoll and she passed away in 1969.
In 1947, “Bill” went to work for International Paper Co., Otis Mill in Jay, as a machinist, retiring in 1985. He also served as selectman for the town of Livermore for many years.
He was a member of the Eaton Memorial United Methodist Church in Livermore Falls, a member of the I.P. Quarter Century Club, the American Legion, Post 10 of Livermore Falls and the VFW, Post 3335 of Jay.
Survivors include two sons, Gregg and his wife, Geri of Rangeley and Chris also of Rangeley; brothers, Leslie and his wife, Kathy of Seattle, Wash., Andrew of Hartford, Conn., Edward and his wife, Pauline of Ridgefield, Conn. , and John and his wife, Kathleen of Seattle, Wash.; sisters, Ann France of Portland, Conn., Arlene Hallman of Springfield, S.C., and Betty Cook and her husband, Cleon of Livermore; and five grandchildren, Sara, Jennifer, Eric and Ellen Bemis and Allison Gneirre.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Julien Botka and G. Henry Botka; and a sister, Helen Rozes.
