PARIS – Marilyn Hammond will be the speaker at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., South Paris, at 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 1.

Sermon topic will be “Lighten Up” which will explore the role of humor in maintaining physical, mental and spiritual health.

Music will be under the direction of church organist Forest Perkins. Sunday School will be in session. Brunch will follow in Good Cheer Hall. Everyone is welcome.

VFW session

PARIS – The Floyd A. Harlow Jr. Post 9787, VFW, will meet beginning with a social at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall on Lower Main Street.

Supper will be served at 6 with the meeting to follow at 7. The program will be announced.

Extension program

FRYEBURG – Members of the Fryeburg Homemakers Extension will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at the American Legion Hall on Bradley Street. Coffee and social time is at 8:30 a.m. followed by the meeting at 9.

Mary E. Walker will present the program titled “Memories of Fryeburg.” The craft will be making valentine favors for the Health Center. A potluck luncheon will be hosted by Muriel Barboza and Carol Sue Harmon. New members and guests are welcome.

Scholarship given

OTISFIELD – The East Otisfield Free Baptist Church’s scholarship has been awarded to Kyle Herrick of Otisfield.

Herrick, son of Doug and Cathy Herrick, is a student at the University of Maine at Farmington.

The church is planning two fund-raising events for the scholarship this year. There will be a flea market and white elephant sale on July 17 with Priscilla Delehanty of Otisfield as chairwoman. Marian Culbert will be the chairwoman for the annual craft fair on Aug. 21.
