WOODSTOCK – As work on the 45- by 75-foot addition to the fire station continues town officials are confident that the project will be completed by April.
Town Manager Vern Maxfield said work is moving along well despite recent delays caused by the subzero weather.
He said steel framework is done, exterior metal is in place, the roof is completed and the overhead doors have been installed.
“During the next couple of months the concrete floor, which will include the hot water radiant heating system, will be installed,” Maxfield said. “Also the electrical work, a utility room to house an electric generator to provide emergency housing throughout the town office, highway garage and fire station complex in case of a natural disaster, and reconfiguration of the interior to allow for a meeting room will be completed.
“All this should be done so the fire trucks can be moved in by April,” he said.
Trucks are being housed in the meantime in the old Maine Department of Transportation garage on Route 232 in Pinhook.
As for funding, $80,000 has been appropriated and the $20,000 needed for the rest of the project is available in the town’s building accounts.
