As a former elementary school teacher, I am very concerned with the print size and quality of the children’s page.
I have been wanting to send this to Sun Journal for quite some time, but never quite got around to it. Now, with the new format for the Sunday comics and the feedback on the changes you made, it seems like a good time to add my opinion.
The children’s page obviously comes to you all formatted and therefore does not fit the shape of the page you use; however, in scrunching it up to put it on such a small page, the print becomes far too small and is often blurred. Even if there was a bit of distortion (you could judge how much is too much), making the print fit the page would enlarge it some. The print in children’s books is usually quite a bit larger than that you are using.
