WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Vanessa Russell hit a 3-pointer with 2.4 seconds remaining in overtime as top-ranked Bowdoin rallied from a 16-point halftime deficit to remain unbeaten with a 62-61 NCAA Division III women’s basketball win over Williams on Friday night.

Williams (15-3) led 32-16 at the break, but Bowdoin (18-0) held the Ephs to 8-for-22 field goal proficiency in the second half to pull even at 57. Williams missed all five of its attempts from the field in OT.

Eileen Flaherty led Bowdoin with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Justine Pouravelis added 13 points and Lora Trenkle 12. Colleen Hession topped all scorers with 26 points for Williams.

Middlebury 76, Colby 67

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Middlebury rallied from a 12-point deficit in the second half to pull out a 76-67 NESCAC women’s basketball win over Colby.

Billi Blanchard topped four scorers in double digits with 15 points for Colby (9-10). Wendy Bonner added 14.

Men’s basketball
Williams 82, Bowdoin 67

BRUNSWICK – Chuck Abba drained six 3-pointers and scored 24 points to lead second-ranked Williams past Bowdoin 82-67 in NESCAC men’s basketball Friday night.

Ben Coffin added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Ephs (17-1). Kyle Petrie paced the Polar Bears (11-8) with 22 points. T.J. McLeod had 15.

Middlebury 73, Colby 64

WATERVILLE – Nate Anderson had 23 points and hauled down 10 rebounds to lead Middlebury to a 73-64 NESCAC victory over Colby.

Middlebury (11-6) led 30-26 at halftime, but Colby (5-14) fought back and took a 35-34 lead early in the second half. Simon Behan added 16 points and six rebounds for the Panthers.

Drew Cohen notched 14 points, 13 rebounds and six blocked shots for the White Mules.

Trinity 87, Bates 71

HARTFORD, Conn. – Bates led by six at halftime before Trinity sank seven second-half 3-pointers and pulled away to an 87-71 NESCAC victory.

Bates (14-4) drained 15 treys, including six each by Ramon Garcia (24 points) and Jon Furbush (21). Brian Gerrity also finished with 21.

Men’s hockey
USM 3, Tufts 3

GORHAM – Mark Carragher netted his fifth goal of the year with 4:35 remaining in regulation to lift Southern Maine into a 3-3 overtime men’s hockey tie with Tufts.

USM (8-9-1) improved its unbeaten string to three games. Carragher’s goal marked the second time in the contest that the Huskies rallied to tie the score.
