SPRING HILL, Fla. – Mary Ventrella Nemi, 93, died Friday, Jan. 30, following a short illness.

She was born on Nov. 14, 1910, in Teramo, Italy, the eldest daughter of Antonio and Rosa DeCostantino Ventrella. The family immigrated to this country through Ellis Island in 1922. Mary was a member of the first graduating class of St. Rose Parochial School in 1926.

On Aug. 24, 1931, she married Vincent Nemi. He passed away on March 23, 1992. She worked at the Glove Shop in Livermore for thirty years. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay and a member of Ladies of St. Anne for many years and a life member of the Third Order of Mary and was also a member of the Sons of Italy Auxiliary. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and working in her beautiful flower garden.

She is survived by: two daughters, Rose and her husband, Romie Gonya of Spring Hill, Fla., and Betty Barclay of Livermore; three sisters, Minnie Rea of Manchester, N.H., Vera Bernard and her husband, Norman, of Latham, N.Y. and Ann Sullivan of Bridgewater, Mass.; eight grandchildren, Wendell Roberts of Indianapolis, Ind., Robin Roberts of Jay, Chuck Roberts of Fort Wayne, Ind., Trudy Johnson of Minot, Lauri Wright of Woodford, Vt., Crystal Berry of Turner, Debbie Evans of Kailua, Hi. and Jim Barclay of Topsham; fifteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, a son Vincent, a brother Geo Ventrella, a grandson Donald Roberts and great-granddaughter, Alicia Roberts.
