Taryn Flagg drops in 23 points and earns seven assists for Livermore Falls.
LIVERMORE FALLS – Taryn Flagg poured in 23 points and added seven assists and five steals to point Livermore Falls to a 65-58 upset victory over Jay in girls’ basketball Monday.
The win should lift the Andies (4-13) into playoff contention in Western Class C.
The Tigers took a 15-8 lead after the first quarter, but the Andies battled back to take a 29-27 lead by halftime. Flagg scored seven points in the pivotal quarter, while Rachel Ventrella added a pair of 3-pointers.
Jenika Kelly had 10 rebounds for Livermore Falls, while Karen Howe and Kayla Keene had eight apiece. Kylie Demillo led Jay with 23 points and Heather Johnson added 15.
Carrabec 42, Lisbon 32
LISBON – Marcie Williams dropped in 16 points to lead Carrabec to a 42-32 win over Lisbon in MVC basketball action Monday.
Kelly Rudman and Megan Merrill combined for 14 points for the Cobras (2-15). Carrabec made 11 of 12 free throws en route to its victory.
The Greyhounds’ (2-16) effort was paced by Krysal Doughty with a game-high 17 points.
Dirigo 43, Mt. Abram 26
SALEM – Dirigo was held to 16 points in the first half, but its defense kept Mt. Abram in the single digits as the Cougars slowly pulled away to remain unbeaten with a 43-26 victory.
Dirigo (17-0) opened 8-4 and 16-9 leads after the first two quarters before taking command in the third quarter with 30-17 advantage.
Alexa Kaubris and Michelle Holmquist led the Cougars with 15 points apiece. Briana Wilkins scored 10 points to lead Mt. Abram (10-7).
Hebron 43, Gould 26
HEBRON – Maddy Campbell drained 13 points as Hebron defeated Gould 43-26 in girls’ basketball action Monday evening.
Danielle Dawson added 12 points for Hebron (3-10).
Gould’s (6-10) effort was led by Heather Kellener with 12 points.
Boothbay 61, Wiscasset 51
WISCASSET – Kayley Gallagher drained 20 points as Boothbay slipped past Wiscasset with a 61-51 win Monday evening.
Kylie Higgins added 13 points for the Seahawks (12-5).
Kristen Pierce recorded a game-high 23 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and two steals for the Redskins (9-8).
Winthrop 66, Monmouth 25
MONMOUTH – Emily Knight posted 20 points, while Renee St. Hilaire added 12 as Winthrop dominated Monmouth with a 66-25 in MVC hoops action Monday.
Winthrop dominated the entire game, leading Monmouth at the half, 38-13. Monmouth had several costly turnovers in the contest.
Trista Morin sank eight points, while Cortney Barrett scored seven and recorded 15 rebounds for the Mustangs (2-15).
Hockey
Maranacook 4, Fryeburg 3
BRIDGTON – Piner Markovichick netted the game-winning goal off a pass from Tom Martinelli 3:23 into overtime to lead Maranacook to a 4-3 victory over Fryeburg in hockey action Monday evening.
Martinelli added two goals for the Black Bears, while Jim Oliver had one. Dustin Ouellette was credited with two assists.
Nick Lawrence and Jordan DeLong had a goal and an assist each for Fryebirg, while Kris Charlong rcorded one goal.
Basketball
Hebron 79, Gould 47
HEBRON – Jeff Scammon sank three 3-pointers en route to 17 points to lift Hebron to a 79-47 win over Gould Monday.
Christian Mosley added 15 points, while Ari Paschal netted 12 for Hebron. Karl Olson drained a game-high 21 points for Gould.
