LEWISTON – Dr. Laurel G. Caron, D.D.S., 76, of 42 Ashmount St. Lewiston, died Sunday night, Feb. 1, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center due to complications of a long illness.
He was born in Lewiston on March 25, 1927 the son of J. Medard and Laura ( Vaillancourt) Caron. He was educated at St. Mary’s Parochial School of Lewiston and at the Seminaire St.-Charles-Borromee, Sherbrooke, Que., and at the University of Montreal. From 1956 to 1986, he maintained a dental practice at 194 Lisbon St. Lewiston.
He served in the Army Reserves with the 1125th U.S. Army Hospital which is now the 309th Combat Support Hospital of Auburn for 12 years as a dentist attaining the rank of Major.
He was a communicant of Holy Cross Church. He was a past member of the Maine Dental Association, the Exchange Club and the Club Musical-Literaire.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, the former Ella M. Bonang whom he married on June 30, 1962; two sons, Monsignor Marc B. Caron of Portland and Michael A. Caron of Lewiston.
He was predeceased by one sister, Constance Caron.
