1915 – 2004

AUBURN – Rolande G. Couillard, 88, lifelong resident of Auburn, died Jan. 31, at Odd Fellows and Rebekahs Home of Maine, where she had lived since June of 2000.

Born in Lewiston, March 7, 1915, the daughter of Philias and Aglae (Sirois) Simard, she attended Auburn schools and worked at Koss Shoe until retirement in 1975.

She married Roland Couillard on June 24, 1939, and they were married over 60 years. They enjoyed many years of retirement together until his death in August 2002.

She was an active member of the Sacred Heart Church and the Sisters of St. Anne, where she participated in fund raising events to build the current church. After retirement she volunteered her time weekly for the church. She and her husband were active members of the Golden Age Club.

She enjoyed tending her flowers and entertaining at home. Her favorite vacations were at Sebago Lake with friends and relatives. She was very devoted to her family and always looked forward to their visits.

Survivors include her son, Andre Couillard and his wife, Jody of North Hampton, N.H.; and two grandchildren, Timothy Couillard of Richmond, Va., and Nicole Couillard of Somerville, Mass.

She was predeceased by her husband, Roland; seven sisters, Florida, Alma Godin, Blanche Cote, Corine Viere, Cecile Bolduc, Fernande Couture and Jeannette Moisan; and three brothers, Alfred Simard, Fernand Simard and Ronaldo Simard.
