LEWISTON – Aurele A. Cloutier Jr., 80, of 100 Campus Ave., Lewiston died Wednesday, Feb. 4, at d’Youville Pavilion following a long illness.

He was born in Lewiston on June 1, 1923, the son of Aurele A. and Marie (Gagnon) and had been a resident of this community all of his life.

He had been a carpenter at Bates Mills for many years.

He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army with the 51st Field Artillery Battalion in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of operations. He was a member of Holy Family Church.

He was the widower of the former Jeanne D’Arc Doyon. On May 9, 1992, he married the former Laurette Tancrede.

Besides his wife Laurette of Lewiston, he is survived by two sons, Raynald Cloutier of Phoenix, Ariz., and Edouard Cloutier Lincolnville; one daughter, Jacqueline Desjardins and her husband Roger of Lewiston; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
