Chorale rehearsal
PARIS – The Hills Alive Chorale choral group will begin rehearsals for its spring production of “Shout With Joy” at 6:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at the First Congregational Church on East Main Street. Beginning season 12, the chorale is a nonauditioned four-part chorus welcoming singers of widely varied experiences and abilities. Local performance date has not been set, but the chorale has been commissioned to perform in Windham on Friday, April 20. Music selected includes choral versions of Billy Joel’s hit “Daydream Believer” first performed by The Monkeys in 1967. There will also be traditional spirituals, contemporary music, and more. OXFORD – The spaghetti and meatball supper scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7, at Hosanna Church has been rescheduled to 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at the church at 109 Schoolhouse Road. Admission will be $5 for adults and teens, $3 for children 12 and under. Proceeds benefit the Church Youth Group’s new youth room. The earlier date was changed due to the forecast of a snowstorm.
Art tour
PARIS – The McLaughlin Foundation Garden and Horticultural Center is offering a tour of two special exhibitions of flower paintings and architectural perspectives at the Portland Museum of Art from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10. Featured are more than 50 drawings from early amateurs to trained designers from 1800 to 1870 including Richard Upjohn, Alexander Parris and Charles Bulfinch. A fee of $40 covers the transportation, tour and lunch at the museum cafe. Preregistration is required. For information phone 743-8820.
