OXFORD – Selectmen on Thursday gave Luther Grover until the end of May to erect a fence around his property on Coldwater Brook Road.
If Grover doesn’t put up the fence, selectmen will refuse him a junkyard permit and order him to clean up his property.
Grover didn’t think that was fair.
“How about all of the other people on Coldwater Brook Road?” he asked.
Code Enforcement Officer Rodney Smith said Grover was ordered last year to put up the fence, but he did not.
Asked by selectmen why he failed to put up a fence, Grover said “I built up the biggest part of it. I’ve got to do more.”
Junkyard permits were unanimously granted to five other operations in town. They are Hall’s junkyard, at 117 Number Six Road, Varney Brothers, Coldwater Brook Road, David Witham’s junkyard at 100 Fore St., William Rowe’s Salvage Yard at 304 Robinson Hill Road and Ayotte’s Used Cars and Parts.
