1909 – 2004
NORWAY – Marjorie Kessell, 94, passed away at the Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center on Thursday, Feb. 5, following a long illness.
She was born in Massachusetts, Oct. 31, 1909, the daughter of Harold and Bessie (Bennett) Kessell. She was raised in West Bethel. In 1928, she entered nursing training at Central Maine General Hosptial, graduating as a RN in 1931.
She worked for many years in private nursing practice, and was a ward supervisor at both the Pownal State School and CMG Hospital.
In 1950, she joined the K-9 Shangri-La, animal hospital and boarding kennel in Auburn, where she worked until her retirement in 1975. Since 1997, she has resided at the Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center.
She is survived by a brother, Robert, and a niece, Mellissa both of South Paris; a nephew, Stephen; three great-nieces and nephew of Perth, Western Australia.
