LEWISTON – Maine PBS is accepting applications for the fourth annual National Teacher Training Institute on Thursday and Friday, March 11 and 12, in Belfast. It is a free training opportunity for all state teachers.

The two one-day seminars will be held at the University of Maine’s Hutchinson Center in Belfast. Master teachers will instruct the participants how to use video and the Internet to explain, motivate and reach students with different learning styles.

Teaching objectives, such as interdisciplinary learning and real-world problem-solving, will be part of the course. The “graduates” will leave with technology-based lesson plans and other classroom resource materials to share with their colleagues.

The institute is the largest national professional development program developed by public broadcasting. Using the model of “teachers teaching teachers,” Maine PBS selected and is training 13 master teachers from around the state to be presenters at the institute.

Teachers interested in attending can register for either of the workshops by visiting www.mainepbs.org/ntti or by calling Audience Services at 1-800-884-1717. Registration and participation are free.
