LEWISTON – The Maine International Trade Center is offering a new seminar for Maine businesses interested in learning strategies to reduce international trade and receivables risks.

The seminar entitled “Due Diligence and Insuring Receivables” will be held from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, in Lewiston.

Two financial deterrents to selling overseas are the time it takes to collect from distant customers and the risk of nonpayment. This seminar covers methods and resources for due diligence investigations, as well as export credit insurance policy/coverage options. Featured speakers at the program are Bennet Schwartz from Banknorth, John Lavelle from Export-Import Bank of the U.S., and George Babeu from Seafax.

The program is part of the Lee Auto Malls International Program Series and will be held at the Lewiston City Hall, 27 Pine St., in Lewiston. Cost to attend is $30 for MITC members and $60 for non-members. Maine state legislators may attend at no charge.
