LEWISTON – Bryce Bryant drained 17 points and Joe Lee added 16 points to lead Lewiston to a 68-43 win over Nokomis in KVAC basketball action Saturday evening.

The Blue Devils (7-7) broke out to a 32-17 lead at the end of the first half and never looked back as Ryan Bellemare added 10 points while hauling down 12 rebounds in the victory.

The Warriors were paced by Ryan McDaniels with a game-high 18 points.

Boothbay 59,

Mt. Abram 58

BOOTHBAY – Mike Norton and Roy Arsenault combined for 24 points to lift Boothbay to a 59-58 win over Mt. Abram in MVC basketball Saturday.

The Seahawks (11-7) held a slim 25-23 lead at the end of the first half and withstood a furious fourth quarter run by the Roadrunners (6-12) to squeak out the win.

Mt. Abram placed four different players in double digits, led by Jordan Norton with 17 points. Eric Fields added

14 points, while Frank Hayes and Sterling Pingree had 11 each.

Hall-Dale 48, Lisbon 33

FARMINGDALE – Joe Willette and Matt Wheelock combined for 21 of Hall-Dale’s 48 points as they went on to defeat Lisbon 48-33 in a varsity boys’ baketball contest on Saturday night.

Lisbon’s Levi Ervin drained a game-high 12 and Chris Kates added 10. Hall-Dale improves to 16-2 while Lisbon falls to 9-9.

Hyde 54, Rangeley 34

RANGELEY – Bobby Moore drained a team-high 15 points including three 3-point shots to propell Hyde to a 54-34 win over Rangeley in basketball action Saturday.

The Phoenix (14-1) used a stiffling defense in the second half to limit the Lakers (10-8) to 10 points as they cruised to the victory. Joe Galant and Tom Bragg added 11 and 10 points respectivley in the win.

Jim Goodwin led the Lakers with a game-high 20 points and 12 rebounds.

Georges Valley 69, Wiscasset 48

WISCASSET – Georges Valley’s Brett Hutchinson drained a game-high 24 points as the Bucs pound Wiscasset 69-48 in a varsity boys’ basketball match up. David Wilgus nailed three 3-pointers for Georges Valley (12-6).

Wiscasset’s (7-11) Conrad Griffin scored a team-high 18 points in the first half and did not score in the second half.

Livermore Falls 56, Monmouth 45

MONMOUTH – Mike Chamard drained 16 points to lead Livermore Falss to a 56-45 win over MVC rival Monmouth in boys’ basketball Saturday evening.

The Andies (5-13) Garrett Young added 10 points in the victory.

The Mustangs (3-15) were led by Mark Wade with a game-high 17 points.

Winthrop 63, Carrabec 48

NORTH ANSON – Senior center Joey Burnham scored 22 points to spark Winthrop to a 63-48 win over Carrabec in MVC boys’ basketball action Saturday.

Jason Allen and Mike Gingras contributed 17 and 15 points, respectively, for the Ramblers in the evenly paced contest.

Travis Yahn led the charge for the Cougars with nine field goals, including three from beyond the arc, for a team-high 21 points in the loss.

Jay 60, Madison 45

MADISON – Jays’s Marc Kelvey drained a game-high 21 points as Jay beats Madison 60-45 in varsity boys’ basketball action on Saturday night. Madison (10-8) was led by Randy McMullen and Allen Berry who scored 16 points each.

Jay (16-2) was ahead by only four points going into the forth quarter, but in the fourth quarter they outscored Madison 21-10.

Telstar 78, Dirigo 75

DIXFIELD – Sean Caddigan dealt a crushing blow as he scored 34 points to lift Telstar to a 78-75 victory over Dirigo in MVC boys’ basketball action Saturday.

The Rebels had a 10-point lead with 1:34 left to regulation, but the Cougars showed some life when Trevis Knapp stole the ball on consecutive defenses to convert into field goals and shrink the margin to within six. Knapp recorded 16 points for Dirigo, while Brandon Berry notched the team-high 18 points with four treys.

Telstar was able to hold on in the final seconds as the Rebels went 10-for-13 from the foul line in the fourth quarter, including five from Caddigan, who was perfect with 11 free throws in the winning effort.

St. Dom’s 46,

Sacopee Valley 36

AUBURN – Abby Gilbert tickled the twines for a game-high 26 points, including four 3-pointers, to power St. Dom’s to a 46-36 win over Sacopee Valley in WMC basketball action Saturday.

Trailing 24-18 at halftime, the Saints (4-12) utilized a stifling defense to hold the Hawks (6-9) to 12 points in the second half while going 19-for-24 from the charity stripe to secure the victory. Emily Goss controlled the boards in the second half and hauled down eight rebounds.

Elyse White led the Hawks with 13 points, while Melissa Verrill added 12 points.

Rangeley 66, Hyde 33

RANGELEY – Junior center Krysteen Romero poured in 20 points as Rangeley finished the season unbeaten by rolling to a 66-33 triumph over Hyde School.

Point guard Sarah Schrader chipped in 16 points for the Lakers (17-0), while Justine Frost-Kolva tallied eight points along with four steals and four rebounds.

Senior guard Sabriah Faustin led the Pheonix with 12 points.

Gray-NG 32, York 31

GRAY – Don Ross drained a game-high 16 points as Gray-New Gloucester slipped past York 32-31 in a varsity girls’ basketball match up Saturday.

Haley Woods scored a team high eight points for York. The Patriots improve to 16-2.

Lewiston 46, Nokomis 37

NEWPORT – Junior forward Tracy Bradley scored 13 points to lead Lewiston to a 46-37 win over Nokomis in KVAC girls’ basketball action Saturday.

Katie L. Morin contributed 12 points in the balanced attack for the Blue Devils (12-2).

The Warriors (6-9) were paced by Alyssa Bragdon with 11 points and Aimee Paradis, who scored 10 points.

Hockey
Yarmouth 2, Win-Dale 1

HALLOWELL – Pat Delaney converted a pass from Charlie Mercier and Andrew Pires at 13:34 of the second period to lift Yarmouth to a 2-1 win over Win-Dale in hockey action Saturday evening.

Adam Beal found the back of the net at 2:48 of the first period, taking a pass from Garrick Wilson to give the IceDogs the early lead.

Pires knotted the score at

1-1 four minutes later, setting

up Delaney’s game-winning goal.

Ben Collello turned back 15 shots to register the win,

Brandon Ellis (20-18) and Josh Grant (0-0) were in net for Win-Dale.
