Thank God for the Mike Maberrys of the world that seek to preserve the important legacy of the Pledge of Allegiance. Every Sunday morning before Sunday school, we pledge to the American flag, the Christian flag and the Bible.

I could not help but be struck with the irony of this when I was reading in the newspaper recently that the Poland Regional High School finally was saying the pledge.

We hear so much about separation of church and state today, but isn’t it interesting that it just might be in the churches, not in our state-run institutions, that this next generation will learn allegiance to God, the Bible and, yes, our state.
