LEWISTON – The Y-ettes will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the YWCA when Kim Finnerty will present a program on REAL Fit.

Finnerty, a certified REAL Fit instructor, will lead the exercise program designed to enhance flexibility, dexterity and balance. It is a land-based aerobic class using chairs to help with balance. Those wishing to attend should wear comfortable clothing and shoes.

Theresa Patry and Libby Pugsley will host the meeting.

Look good

LEWISTON – An American Cancer Society Look Good … Feel Better program for assisting women who are faced with appearance changes resulting from cancer treatment will be offered from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Central Maine Medical Center’s Cynthia A. Rydholm Cancer Treatment Center.

A volunteer from the National Cosmetology Association will teach a small group of women how to apply cosmetics specific to their individual needs. Hair and wig styling will also be discussed. Wigs are available through purchase or loan. Each participant will be given a complimentary bag of cosmetics made available through the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association Foundation.

Bates play

LEWISTON – Carolyn Myles, a Bates College senior, will direct the fourth annual production of Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues” at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall, 75 Russell St. The public is invited and donations will be accepted, with proceeds going to V-Day, an international organization working to stop violence against women and girls.

A $2 donation is suggested. Tickets will be available at the arts center starting at 4 p.m. on the day of the performance; no reservations will be accepted, but overflow seating will be available. The production is sponsored by the Robinson Players, a student theater organization. For more information, call 207-786-6135.

AUBURN – Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St.

Worthy Matron Ellen Broas and Worthy Patron Stephen Broas will honor members. Special honors will be given to Doris Duprey and James Hunnewell, who will receive their life membership certificates, and Lois Woodward, who has been a member for 25 years.

Pine Cone has the Travel Emblem for District 4. All Eastern Star members are welcome. Refreshments will be served in the dining hall following the meeting.

Adoption topic

LEWISTON – The Lewiston office of the state Department of Human Services will host a public informational meeting about adoption and foster care at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, for those interested. Study group

AUBURN – Court Street Baptist Church invites the public to Sunday evening study/discussion sessions being held until Palm Sunday, April 4.

The free sessions are taken from Phillip Yancey’s book, “What’s So Amazing about Grace?” Each uses a short video segment, then participants are divided into five or six discussion groups. The groups join together for a re-cap at the conclusion.

Each session starts at 6 p.m. and lasts about an hour. An optional study guide can be purchased. For more information call 784-6661.
