LIVERMORE FALLS – Kevin P. Morrissey is running for a seat on the Board of Selectmen Wednesday in a special election. His challenger is Russell Flagg.

The polls will be open from noon to 6 p.m. at the Fire Station. The successful candidate is expected to serve until June 2006.

The position was vacated by Clayton Putnam.

Morrissey said the biggest issue facing Livermore Falls is the tax rate.

“Somehow we’ve got to find a way to regionalize to consolidate services,” Morrissey said. “I think they’re on the right track.”

Several towns in the area including Livermore Falls and Livermore are exploring ways to work together to save money.

Instead of having duplicate services, Morrissey said, they should regionalize.

“I’ll push for it,” Morrissey said, if he’s elected. “I don’t want to see it fall by the wayside. I want this to keep going.”

Morrissey, who lives in the East Livermore section of town, said that area has grown in population and has really not had a lot of representation in a long time.

“I feel it’s time,” he said.
