BRIDGTON – Susan L. Dube, regional laboratory manager of Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital, has been named president-elect of the Maine Clinical Laboratory Management Association (CLMA).

CLMA is an international organization with approximately 7,000 members who are responsible for laboratories and clinical services in hospitals and health-care networks, group practices and independent settings. CLMA is dedicated to excellence through enhancing professional managerial and leadership skills; promoting efficient, productive, and high-quality operations; and advocating on behalf of quality patient care and the membership.

Dube has been a member of CLMA since 1992. She currently serves as the secretary of the board. As an active member of CLMA she is serving on the planning committee for the Northeast Laboratory Conference. The Maine Chapter of the Clinical Laboratory Management Association, as well as ME/NH State Society of American Medical Technologists, and the Maine Society for Clinical Laboratory Science, sponsors the conference.

The conference, held every October, is open to all laboratory professionals.

Dube joined the laboratory staff at Bridgton Hospital in 1994 as lead hematology technologist. In 2000 she was named regional lab manager for Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital. She received her bachelor of science degree in medical technology from Quinnipiac University, Hamden, Conn. In 2003, she was awarded a scholarship to attend the Bayer Diagnostics Executive Management Program at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. In the fall she will begin her studies for an master’s degree in business administration.

She serves on the Central Maine Community College Advisory Board for the Clinical Laboratory program and is a guest lecturer at CMCC.

A resident of Harrison, she has two children, Kira, 7, and Reid, 4. She is engaged to wed Michael Hamel, regional field service engineer at Bridgton Hospital and Central Maine Medical Center.
