Leavitt beats Waterville for first win
TURNER – Jake Witham blazed the way with 24 points to lead Leavitt to its first win of the season with a 72-60 decision over Waterville.
The score was 26-24 Hornets going into the second half of the game. Leavitt broke the contest open in the third quarter outscoring Waterville 20-9.
Tom Lily added 13 points while Jon Perriccullo tallied 12 for the Hornets (1-14). Andy Vayo had 22 points for the Panthers (3-12).
Mt. Blue 71, EL 52
FARMINGTON – Ted Neil poured in a game-high 31 points and recorded nine rebounds as Mt. Blue rolled past Edward Little 71-52 in KVAC boys’ hoops action Tuesday.
Brian wells added 16 points and nine rebounds for the Cougars (11-4).
The Eddies were paced by Darren Meyers with 14 points, while Troy Barnies notched 10.
Ox. Hills 68, Lawrence 60
FAIRFIELD – Corey Tielinen dominated the game with 29 points, 15 rebounds, and 12 assists to power Oxford Hills to a 68-60 triumph over Lawrence in KVAC basketball action.
Lief Kothe chipped in with 11 points for the Vikings (13-1). Trevor Woods poured in 27 points for the Bulldogs losing cause.
Cony 65, Lewiston 63
AUGUSTA – As the horn sounded, Adam Vachon tipped in the game-winning basket, his only of the night, to lift Cony to a 65-63 win over Lewiston in KVAC hoop’s action Tuesday.
Doug Joerss led all scorers with 21 points.
Nick Beauchesne and Joe Lee combined for 27 points to pace the Blue Devils (7-8). Lee tied the game with nine seconds left, but Lewiston fell short.
Mt. Ararat 76, Skowhegan 58
TOPSHAM – Andy Cantrell drained 17 points as Mt. Ararat rolled past Skowhegan 76-58 Tuesday evening.
Danny Colina added 16 points to the Eagles (8-7) win. Mt. Ararat dominated throughout the game, leading at the half 40-25.
The Indians (5-10) effort was paced by Thomas Jeness and Zack Davis who combined for 20 points.
