FARMINGTON – Titcomb Mountain in West Farmington will offer Friday night specials with $6 lift tickets between 5 and 9 p.m. for any Maine student, and rentals for $8. Genealogy meeting

FARMINGTON – The Sandy River Valley Chapter of the Maine Genealogy Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, in the Farmington Public Library. The program will be “Finding Passenger Lists for Our Immigrant Ancestors.” Anyone with an interest in genealogy is welcome to attend.

FARMINGTON – The Veterans’ Service officer will not be at the Municipal Building on Tuesday, Feb. 17. His next visit to Farmington will be 9 a.m. to noon on March 2.

Firemen’s supper

WILTON – The annual supper meeting of the Franklin County Firemen’s Association will be Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the Wilton Fire Station. It will begin with a social hour at 6 p.m. followed by supper at 6:30 p.m. The regular business meeting will include election of officers for the coming year and reports from any standing committees. All members are invited to attend and each department is asked have a representative. This is a change of location and time for this meeting. Interested guests are also invited to the meeting.

FARMINGTON – The Farmington Democratic Committee will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, in the North Dining Hall of Olsen Student Center at the University of Maine at Farmington. The committee will elect a chairman and vice chairman and consider amending the bylaws. Bylaw changes involve standing committees, quorums and amendments.

Lincoln Day Dinner

STRONG – The Franklin County Republican Committee is inviting the public to attend the Lincoln Day Dinner to be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Forster Memorial Building. There will be special guests, a silent auction and dinner. The public is welcome to attend and meet candidates who are running for offices for the county, district and state levels. Communication course

FARMINGTON – Maine Centers for Women, Work and Community will offer a six-week assertive communication training course from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays starting Feb. 23 and ending March 29 at the center at 108 Perham St. In this interactive workshop, participants will learn to develop and understand personal power by building skills to communicate their needs, wants and feelings honestly and directly while respecting the rights of others. People can learn to develop effective tools for clear communication and taking charge of their lives. There is no fee for participants. Training tutors

FARMINGTON – The Literacy Volunteers of Franklin and Somerset counties will present a “Basic Reading Tutor Training” workshop from 5 to 7 p.m. starting March 9 at the Skowhegan Area High School. The workshop will continue each Tuesday evening through April 13. The workshop covers topics such as: qualities of a good tutor, needs of adult learners, techniques for teaching reading and creative lesson planning. There is a small fee for the Literacy Volunteer training materials, which are retained by the tutor.
