RUMFORD – The Oxford County Association for Retarded Citizens’ biggest fund-raising event takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, at Horizons Unlimited.

Members of local snowmobile clubs will be riding into the field behind Horizons Unlimited, a group home at 319 Swain Road.

“Residents of the homes and other program participants of Oxford County ARC are looking forward to the snowmobile rides they will be receiving from local snowmobilers,” said spokeswoman Tanya Goff.

Lunch will be served to all participants.

Residents of the home will be baking their traditional baked beans on Saturday for the 29th annual Ride-In. Hot dogs, cole slaw and other foods will also be available.

Residents of the New Hope and Fourth Street homes are making desserts, and Oxford County ARC board President Vito Gaccetta is preparing “his famous hot sausages,” Goff added.

The Ride-In generally raises between $5,000 and $7,000 to help pay for non-Medicaid funded services.

Goff said many local merchants have donated more than $700 worth of raffle items for a drawing, which begins at 12:30 p.m. Additional cash prizes of $100 and $200 will also be drawn.

Raffle tickets are available through Saturday, Feb. 14, at the What Not Shop on Waldo Street and the Adult Activity Center on Lincoln Avenue.

Donations are still being accepted. For more information phone 364-4561.
