BETHEL – Planners are expected to continue work on the proposed expansion of a gravel pit and a major subdivision at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, in the town office.

Prior to the meeting, a 3 p.m. visit is scheduled to the planned Savage Land Development LLC Birch Woods Subdivision, a 31-lot project off the Mayville Road, which is Route 2.

A public hearing on the project follows at 6:30 p.m. in the town office.

At 7 p.m., planners are to discuss the findings of fact for site plan applicant Keith Durgin’s Bear River Sand and Gravel – Woodwaste Processing, Composting and Rock Crushing project.

The board is expected to also review conditions of approval that they meted to Durgin at a previous meeting. These include:

• Limiting hours of operation of rock crushing and stump grinding components of the business to 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

• Noise levels are not to exceed 70 decibels at the property line as established by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.

• Access to the site to be limited to Paris Road from southerly Route 26 direction until the northerly portion of Paris Road is upgraded to handle future generated traffic by the operation.

• The town’s reservation of the right to require placement of a properly sized culvert(s) and ditching at applicant’s expense within one year of start-up to maintain proper drainage along Paris Road.

• Maintaining the southern most permanent berm adjacent to Route 26 in addition to the temporary berming of the rock crusher.

• Controlling access to site by gating the facility.

• Replacing the town’s foam supply in event of a fire.

• Applying best management practices for dust control or abatement.

• Establishing crusher and staging areas, and conducting rock crushing and stump grinding activities outside of the natural gas pipeline company’s permanent 50-foot easement.
