OXFORD – Efforts to assist employees at the ICT Group call center facility who will lose their jobs in early March are ongoing.
While discussions with a prospective company interested in leasing the 12,000-square-foot space owned by John Schiavi are moving forward, other assistance is planned.
On Feb. 13, the Department of Labor’s Rapid Response Team will hold sessions at 2, 4 and 6 p.m. at the Route 26 facility. The team will assist workers with unemployment benefit information and information about retraining opportunities.
A Job Fair, coordinated by the Growth Council of Oxford Hills and the Norway Career Center is also planned at the facility for 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 20.
Companies registered to attend the fair with available job openings include: AFLAC, The CCS Co., Formed Fiber Technologies, Home Resources of Maine, Landmark Human Resources, LiveBridge, National Council on the Aging.
Recent job fairs in the Oxford Hills area have been successful at matching available job opportunities with qualified people. According to Barb Olson, vice president of the Growth Council of Oxford Hills, free recruiter space at the upcoming job fair is still available for companies wishing to participate.
The Growth Council of Oxford Hills is a western Maine economic development partnership that provides one-on-one business development services to companies located in the Oxford Hills region.
The Growth Council also works to improve business competitiveness and quality of life through targeted infrastructure, community and workforce improvements.
Maine’s CareerCenters offer access to everything from vocational rehabilitation to youth programs, from veterans’ services to adult education. They offer training programs, customized consultations, workshops and a wealth of resources for both job seekers and employers.
Each office also has an information center that offers use of computers, a library, office equipment and telephones. All services are free.
