New ‘Odd Fest’

has magic, music

BUCKFIELD – The Oddfellow Theater will present two special performances on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20 and 21, at 7:30 p.m. This “Odd Fest” is a benefit for the Oddfellow Performing Arts Series.

“Odd Fest” will be a collection of some of Maine’s finest musicians, magicians, jugglers and variety artists, organizers say. The Oddfellow Performing Arts Series is the nonprofit presenting organization at the theater. This is the first year for an “Odd Fest.”

Michael Miclon, executive director of the performing art series, said, “We are very excited to bring so many great performing artists to the theater in one night.”

On tap so far, Miclon says that magician Leland Faulkner has signed on for both nights as well as juggler Morten Hansen and the ever popular Odd Company featuring Fritz Grobe, Amanda Huotari and Miclon. “Early Evening Show” bandleader Jim Hamalainen will be featured as well as Maine fiddle master Greg Boardman with his musical group, Timbrel.

The Oddfellow Theater, which opened in 1998, has been presenting some fine performing artists, along with innovative original live theater. The theater’s goal has been to present top-quality family entertainment in a comfortable and intimate setting. The Bangor Daily News called it “Buckfield”s biggest living room” and the Times Record stated that “perhaps nowhere else is an audience appreciated so much.”

The Oddfellow Theater is on Route 117. Tickets are $10 for all seats. They are available at Northeast Bank in Buckfield or by calling 336-3306.
