1938 – 2004
LEWISTON – Janette E. Fortier, 65, of 28 Haley St., Lewiston, died unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
Born in Lewiston on April 9, 1938, she was the daughter of Carl F. and Jane E. (Dewhurst) Wood. Educated locally, she was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of ’57. A member of St. Joseph’s Parish, she enjoyed writing, old movies, music, and was an excellent cook, especially her baked hams and apple pies.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Fortier of Lewiston; her mother, Jane E. Wood of Lewiston; two sons, Mark Doyon of Auburn, and Steven and wife Tracy Doyon of Raymond; a daughter, Debra and husband Robert Berube of Greene; two stepsons, Richard Fortier Jr. of New Gloucester, and Stephen Fortier of Florida; a stepdaughter, Nancy Fortier of Portland; a sister, Kathy and husband Michael Danforth of Lewiston; 11 grandchildren; a niece; and a nephew.
Besides her father, she was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Surette.
