GREENE – A panel of public safety experts will take questions for a live broadcast this week on snowmobile and all-terrain vehicle safety.
WGLT TV-4, the local access channel for Greene, Leeds, Turner and Wales, will present its second live broadcast of the “Thin Blue Line” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18.
The program will include state troopers Scott Gosselin and Michael Chavez, Game Warden Dave Chabot, Greene Fire Chief Bruce Tufts and Greene Road Foreman Kevin Doyle.
“It’s a cooperative venture between law enforcement agencies that work the outlying towns outside of Lewiston and Auburn. We’re trying to give people information about police services. We thought it wise to include the Warden Service and road commissioners,” Gosselin said.
Viewers can call with questions about law enforcement, the Warden Service, fire and rescue services, and road conditions. “People are welcome to come in and sit in the audience,” said host Sally Hebert, the Greene town clerk. The program will be broadcast from the Greene Town Office.
“We’re hoping to move forward with a second, third, fourth and fifth program,” Gosselin said.
Hebert explained that the “Thin Blue Line” was an idea that she, Chavez and Gosselin came up with last year as a way to better reach out to the communities by increasing awareness and making the towns safer.
“Maybe we’ll send it out to other towns. We’re not sure yet,” Hebert said.
She said the group was considering other topical programs, such as the importance of 911 house numbering, police K-9 demonstrations, and what to do and what not to do if your house is broken into.
WGLT presented the first installment of the “Thin Blue Line” in September. The program brought a panel that included two state troopers and two Androscoggin County sheriff’s deputies to the screen. They fielded questions from callers about police services and the Androscoggin County call-sharing agreement between the state police and Sheriff’s Department.
