RANGELEY – The 267-acre Quimby Pond Overlook subdivision was unanimously approved by the Planning Board on Wednesday night.

Rick Jones of Jones Associates, on behalf of Don and Dick Morton, presented the final application.

Approximately 55 acres are to be divided into 14 lots ranging in size from 1.9 to 7.9 acres each.

The final plan reflected a change in the proposed snowmobile trail relocation. It shows the trail using the road right of way on Bart’s Way and Quill Gordon Road and exiting the subdivision though Lot 10.

The board held a public hearing on the proposed amendment to the Idlewood condominium development by Paul and Ruth Anderson of Augusta. Idlewood, which is located on Route 4, has nine cabins, three of which are owned by the couple. They propose rebuilding them and enlarging them 30 percent.

“The Andersons have my approval in doing so [the expansion of their cabins] because I can only see it increasing the value of the other cottages at Idlewood,” said cabin owner Paul Rowe.

Association President Robert Linehan said in his letter, “Please be advised that the Idlewood Condominium Association must approve any request from an Idlewood Association member to expand or relocate any building.”

The board has requested a letter from the association prior to its approval of the project.

The board also approved the lateral expansion of the David and Susan Beisler home on Bald Mountain Road in Oquossoc. The home will be enlarged 30 percent.

The board voted to recommend Joe George to selectman for appointment as a regular member of the board and Peter Fox and Tom Sullivan will be recommended as alternate members.

The next board meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at the Rangeley Town Office.
