PARIS – The Western Maine Veterans Advisory Committee is inviting the community to its next meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, 477 High St.

Kerry Birmingham from the Family Assistance Center of the Maine Army National Guard will speak about the assistance available for those who have a family member deployed to a war area.

Harold Small, principal of Oxford Hills Middle School, will speak about a new scholarship fund being set up in memory of a soldier who was killed in Iraq. The soldier, Army Spc. Daniel Cunningham Jr., was a native of Lewiston and a graduate of Oxford Hills High School. He was killed April 4 when his vehicle fell into a ravine.
