Axiom is boldly designed from its massive slotted grille flanked by cat’s eye headlamps, past the pronounced wheel well arches and asymmetrical windows and bodysides, to the stylized liftgate.

Despite Axiom’s overall mass, it is surprisingly aerodynamic in its appearance. Stylishly geometric, blocked-spoke 17-inch wheels create an aggressive stance. The interior continues the exterior’s contemporary flavor while providing more space and volume than Rodeo, Isuzu’s most popular SUV. Roughly 70 percent of Axiom’s parts are lifted from the bins of both Isuzu Trooper and Rodeo.

Axiom offers two trim levels: S and XS, both powered by a 3.5-liter Direct Injection DOHC, V6 that generates 250 horsepower and 246 pound feet of torque. The engine couples to an electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission. Both S and XS models are available in either rear wheel or four-wheel drive. 4WD features Isuzu’s Torque-On-Demand four-wheel drive system that allows the driver to choose two-wheel (rear) drive, automatic four-wheel drive, or four-wheel low (by means of a two-speed transfer case). Borrowed from the Rodeo, is Isuzu’s Intelligent Suspension Control.

Axiom provides a ground clearance of nearly 8-inches, approach angle is 23.5 degrees, departure angle is 24.1 degrees and ramp breakover angle is 19 degrees. Towing capacity is 4,500 pounds.
