Powered by a 210-horsepower 2.5-liter intercooled turbo boxer engine, Baja Turbo blends sport sedan performance with the versatility of a compact 4-door pickup truck.
The 2.5-liter powerplant produces 235 lb.-ft. of peak torque at just 3,600 rpm for powerful responsiveness. Subaru Active Valve Control System variable valve timing technology optimizes the engine’s volumetric efficiency at all engine speeds.
The key to the Baja models’ versatility is the Subaru-designed Switchback System that provides the ability to reconfigure the rear seating area, as well as the cargo bed, to meet a variety of needs when transporting people and cargo. Lowering the rear seat, the Switchback door and the tailgate and then attaching the Subaru accessory bed extender lengthens the bed to over 90 inches. A swing-down rear license plate bracket keeps the plate visible when driving with the tailgate lowered.
Cargo utility features include an integrated bed liner, bed sport bars, a bed light and four tie-down hooks. Baja shares a family resemblance with Outback, including the enlarged front fenders, 4-beam halogen headlights, large foldable side mirrors and integrated fog lights with stone guards. Standard Baja Turbo amenities include air conditioning, a power moonroof and an AM/FM audio system with 6-disc in-dash CD changer.
