I would like to state how appalled I was, and hopefully others, regarding a Sun Journal article Feb. 7. It was regarding Gov. Baldacci’s accident.
Detective James Trask was driving at an excessive speed and because of that, caused the accident that occurred. Yes, the roads were bad, but that didn’t stop him from speeding, and it was also stated that he had the vehicle in two-wheel drive instead of four-wheel drive. And the governor want to give him a commendation?
It would be a different story if it was an ordinary person driving. Instead of a commendation, we would have received a speeding ticket and probably a ticket for reckless driving.
How discriminating is that? Goes to show, it’s who you are that counts. It’s the same when you’re on the highway and you have state police speeding by you with no sirens or lights on, but if you pass them, they pull you over for speeding. Another case of who you are.
If I ever get caught for speeding and cause an accident because of it, I’ll know who to call: Gov. Baldacci.
