The local outlet has not been affected by recent corporate closings.

AUBURN – The Ground Round at 180 Center St. will remain open for business.

Some Ground Round restaurants closed so abruptly over the weekend that customers were hustled from the buildings before they could order dessert, according to wire service reports.

Not so here.

Laura O’Brien, the eatery’s assistant general manager, said Monday franchisee-owned Ground Rounds, such as Auburn’s, will continue to operate.

“It’s only the company-owned stores that closed,” she said.

Chain officials have offered no public comment on the closings. “They didn’t tell us,” O’Brien said.

“We’re going to keep taking care of” hungry people in the Twin Cities, she added.

The casual dining chain has gone through numerous rebrandings and ownership changes over its 35-year history. Ground Round Grill and Bar is part of the Braintree, Mass.-based American Hospitality Concepts. The chain has more than 100 stores.
