BETHEL – Black Diamond Family Entertainment Series will present Rick Charette Duo on Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Sunday River Ski Resort in the grand ballroom of the Grand Summit Resort Hotel.
Mud, alligators and vacationing chickens will descend upon Sunday River when singer and songwriter Rick Charette and keyboard player Roy Clark perform.
Charette’s performances blend original contemporary pop music and lyrics with imagination lyrics that generate all kinds of audience participation.
Tickets for this family event are $4 for children (6-12) and adults $6 in advance or $6 and $8 at the door.

Acadian Society
to meet
RUMFORD – The Acadian Society will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, in the St. Athanasius & St. John Parish Center basement.
A potluck supper will be served. The speaker will be Andrea Gurney on Les Amis de Conversation and Hazel Hodgkins will talk about her LeBlanc family and her experiences researching her genealogy.
Carthage historical meeting
CARTHAGE – The Carthage Historical Society will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at the Carthage Town Office.
The society will be learning about the Maine to California horseback trip of 63-year-old Annie Wilkins of Minot in 1955. Her story has been made into a movie by New Sharon’s Kevin McShane using both local scenery and talent.
There will be a pot luck supper. All are invited to attend.
Relay for Life
RUMFORD – A rally for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life fund-raiser will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the Eagles Hall in Rumford.
All team members, cancer survivors and their families are invited to attend this annual kick-off. Tammy Burgess will sing and share Makayla’s Story describing her daughter’s journey with cancer. Sue Ellis, a survivor and Reach to Recovery worker, may also be a presenter.
The Relay for Life is a 24-hour walk or run to celebrate survivorship and raise money for cancer research, education, advocacy and service programs.
The Rumford relay is from 6 p.m. May 20 to noon May 21. This year the theme is NASCAR, Racing for a Cure.
