Finally, the Web site that anyone can now go to and see what sex offender Martin Hammond looks like (www.auburnpd.com).

A Sun Journal article (Jan. 8) first alerted readers that this convicted Connecticut sex offender and murderer makes frequent visits to his brother’s home on Poland Road in Auburn. However, until now the community had no idea what Hammond looked like.

Thanks to the Auburn Police Department, and particularly Deputy Chief Phil Crowell, the Web site has posted a color photograph of this convicted, dangerous and violent sex offender.

I would strongly encourage everyone who has access to the Internet to commit Hammond’s face to memory because he will surely continue to visit his family here, if not move here someday after being released from probation.

And I would also strongly urge the Auburn Police to allow this critical information to remain indefinitely on their Web site in the interest of public safety.
