BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) – Derek Bekar scored his 19th goal of the year 2:59 into overtime to give the Bridgeport Sound Tigers a 2-1 win over the Portland Pirates Wednesday in the American Hockey League.

Bridgeport (30-13-8-3) became the fourth AHL team to reach 30 wins. Portland (22-17-8-6) had a six-game unbeaten streak snapped but is 6-0-1-3 in the last 10 games.

Francois Methot scored on a wraparound with 7:04 left in regulation to tie the game for Portland. Jeff Hamilton scored his 29th goal of the season.

14:45 into the first period for Bridgeport, tying Cleveland’s Miroslav Zalesak for the league’s goal-scoring lead.

Wade Dubielewicz stopped 28 shots for the Sound Tigers, while Maxime Ouellet made 14 saves for Portland.

Center Brooks Laich played his first game for Portland. The Pirates’ parent club, the Washington Capitals, acquired Laich from the Ottawa Senators’ organization Wednesday as part of a trade for veteran winger Peter Bondra.
