PARIS – SAD 17 Board of Directors will not meet Monday, Feb. 23. The next meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, March 1, at the Oxford Elementary School.

Lenten Luncheon

PARIS – Deering Memorial Methodist Church has announced its 2004 Lenten Luncheon Series event at noon Thursdays beginning Feb. 26. The menu will offer soup, salad, sandwich and a short sermon. The Rev. Joy Gasta will be guest speaker Feb. 26. The series will be at the church at Main and Church streets in South Paris. The public is invited.

Scrappin’ day

PARIS – A benefit scrappin’ day will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at Oxford Hills Middle School cafeteria and gym. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Registration before Feb. 28 is $20; after Feb. 28, $25. Price includes lunch.

Door prizes will be drawn throughout the day. All proceeds benefit the Mildred Fox School Parent Teacher Organization. For information, phone Dawn Dunn, Creative Memories consultant, at 743-5440.

Basket Bingo

LOCKE MILLS – A Longerberger Basket Bingo will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 7, at the Legion Hall. Doors open at 11 a.m. Refreshments will be available. Tickets in advance, or at the door. Proceeds benefit the West Paris Library Building Fund. Fore more information, call 674-2174.

Career Center

PARIS – The Career Center in Norway has announced plans to relocate March 8. The Center has chosen its location to be with Western Maine University and Central Maine Community College at 232 Main St. in South Paris. The center’s telephone number will remain 743-7763. Services will be limited March 4 and 5 due to the move.

Women’s Network

NORWAY – The Maine Women’s Network will host author Sharon Bouchard of South Paris from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, at the Trolley House on Main Street. Bouchard will talk about laughter and a positive outlook on life. Copies of her newest release “Sticky Issues, I Never Burned My Bra, and Cows Don’t Drink Coffee” will be available for autographing. Bouchard has 13 years writing experience and is a frequent speaker at the First Universalist Church in South Paris. She also writes a column for the Bethel Citizen, and makes frequent guest appearances at other local events. Admission is $5. Flea market

LOVELL – A flea market and bake sale is being held from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at the United Church of Christ, Route 5, Center Lovell.
