1920 – 2004

AUBURN – Leo A. (Poopsie) Richards, 83, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, a resident of Meadow Lane, Auburn died Thursday evening, Feb. 19, at Clover Manor Health Care Facility.

He was born in Lewiston, July 25, 1920, the only child of Florida Charpentier and Alfred Routhier (Richards). He attended schools in Lewiston and Auburn and also the Opportunity Farm in New Gloucester. He worked as a dairy farmer at several locations. He also worked many years at Carrier Detective Agency as a security guard at Marcotte Home and Pioneer Plastics where he retired 10 years ago. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years. He also enjoyed NASCAR.

On June 18, 1947, he married the former Edith Goss of Auburn. They had two children, Carolyn Ritchie and her husband, Victor of Auburn; a son, Kenneth Richards and his companion Sue Bolduc of Lewiston; an adopted daughter, Serena and her husband Matt Piper; three grandchildren, Vicki McGary, Marc and Jamie Ritchie all of Auburn; five great-grandchildren, Zachery and Kendra Thomas of Mechanic Falls, Brooke Jellison, and Tayla McGary, Vada Ritchie of Auburn.
