Ames, Hewett & Gifford (AHG), Consulting Engineers of Winthrop, Maine is pleased to announce their merger with Lisa & Whitney Engineers (LWE), of Portland, Maine. The merger became ffective January 1. LWE will become the Lisa & Whitney Mechanical Division, of Ames, Hewett & Gifford.

Ames, Hewett & Gifford has been in business for over 25 years, specializing in electrical engineering consulting services. With the merger AHG now expands its capabilities to include a full range of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design and engineering services. Mr. Kenneth W. Whitney, PE, who has over 14 years experience designing mechanical systems, will head up the new division and be supported by Mr. Anthony Lisa, PE. Lisa & Whitney Engineers, established in 1982, specializing in mechanical engineering consulting services, have been serving New England for the better part of 22 years. The company president, George Ames, looks forward to having Ken Whitney on board, in Winthrop, as a new principal in the firm. Tony Lisa will be retained as a consultant to maintain continuity with existing Lisa & Whitney Engineers, Inc. clients. Tony Lisa will maintain the office located in Portland for the foreseeable future.

Mechanical and electrical engineering naturally goes hand in hand, sharing a lot of the same information, therefore increased efficiency of design can be obtained. AHG and LWE share clientele in the educational, healthcare, retail, sports, general office, municipal and utility commercial construction arena, thus the combination of the two companies will enable a broader range of fully coordinated and integrated MEP designs. The resulting company will be offering MEP design andengineering services with professional engineering licenses for all the New England states, New York and Florida.
