AUBURN – Harry J. Busch, of Mechanic Falls Road, Poland, died early Saturday morning Feb. 21. He had fought a long and courageous battle against pancreatic cancer.

He was born in Lewiston, the son of Dr. John and Elizabeth Collins Busch. He lived in Mechanic Falls and Poland throughout his life. After graduating from Kents Hill Academy, he served six years in the United States Navy. Upon leaving the Navy, he began his own auto body business and car sales.

Later, he began a dealership selling RVs. In 1975 he started a school bus contracting service with the town of Poland. He owned and operated that business for the town until 1999, at which time he donated the busses to the town of Poland and became the transportation director. He maintained this position until the time of his death.

Mr. Busch loved to spend time at his vacation home on Sebago Lake. This was his favorite place to relax and enjoy life. He particularly loved racing across the lake in his speed boat with his wife and their black lab, Jessi. He also loved to travel – Florida and Las Vegas were his favorite destinations.

He was a very avid hockey fan and a generous sponsor of both women’s and men’s softball teams over the years.

He will be dearly missed by his wife Lynn; three daughters, Tanya Busch of Poland, Belinda Busch of Minot, and Angie Cunliffe and her husband Dan, and their three children, Corey, Courtney and Cody Cunliffe, all of Minot; his step-children, Seth and Kate Prideaux, both of Lewiston; two sisters, Betty Begley of New Mexico, and Jane Fuller and her husband Jerry of Arizona.

He was predeceased by his father, Dr. John Busch in 1978; and his mother, Elizabeth Busch in 1988.
