LEWISTON – Maine Public Broadcasting was recently presented the President’s Award by the Androscoggin Chamber of Commerce for the nonprofit’s long-term community service.

Chip Morrison, president of the chamber, said at its annual dinner meeting that the television, radio and education organization was being recognized because of its strong presence in the Lewiston community and the expansion of its facility in 1999.

“We thank Maine Public Broadcasting for their enormous impact to our community in terms of its cultural, economic and educational contributions,” said Morrison adding that events such as The Great TV Auction facilitate citizen involvement and promote Maine businesses.

This is the first time Maine Public Broadcasting has received the high honor from the chamber. Bonnie Adams, MPBC director of major and planned gifts, MPBC board of trustee emeritus and past president of the Androscoggin Chamber of Commerce, accepted the award on behalf of the organization at the Ramada Inn Conference Center in Lewiston.
