AUBURN – Finance Director Jill Eastman abruptly resigned Friday, City Manager Pat Finnigan said Monday.
Eastman had worked with the city for 16 years. Finnigan said she left to pursue other opportunities “that become available to talented, creative people.”
Eastman managed the city’s financial books, wrote the city’s financial reports and helped draw up the annual budget. The city adopted its fiscal year 2002-03 annual report and audit earlier this month.
“With the work on the audit complete, it just seemed like a good time for her,” Finnigan said.
Work on the fiscal year 2004-05 budget is already underway and Finnigan said she hopes to hire Eastman’s replacement quickly.
“I don’t plan on doing it all on my own,” Finnigan said. “We just found out Friday, but we’ll begin the search process as soon as we can.”
